Biblical counseling is an approach to counseling that uses the Bible to address the issues in the lives of individuals.*
The Bible teaches that our thoughts, motives, attitudes, words, and actions flow from our hearts. Biblical counseling addresses the heart, using the wisdom and approaches revealed in the Bible.

Certified Sr. Spiritual Direction
What is Spiritual Direction? The Christian life often entails times of spiritual uncertainty—situations in which we are unsure of God’s will, confused about what God is doing in our circumstances, or generally dry in our relationship with God. Spiritual direction is a safe place to explore your questions and concerns about your life with God.
A Christian spiritual director is a trained listener who will accompany you as you share about your spiritual journey, helping you to notice God’s presence and activity along the way, as well as your personal reactions and responses. Hospitable, confidential, and grounded in biblical truth, spiritual direction is a ministry that helps you grow in prayer and live into your calling as a follower of Christ.

Philosophy of Care
We are committed to providing a balance in our approach to counseling. It is our belief that all inner conflicts are both psychological and spiritual, because your mind, emotions, and will are always involved and because God is always present and His Word is always applicable.
It is our goal to provide the highest quality of care that meets your specific needs and honors Christ. We believe that our past helps shape our present beliefs and behaviors and also influences future beliefs and behaviors.
We will address some of the strategies that obstruct us, the foundational issues of our identity, and outline practical steps on how to live by faith, renew your mind, manage your emotions, and resolve emotional trauma of the past or present through faith and forgiveness.
Certified Biblical Counseling is NOT trained, authorized, or licensed to provide psychological treatment, or psychological diagnosis. Please seek a State Licensed Professional for this type of care. Referral options to outside professional providers are available upon request or given when counseling issues are beyond the comfort and or ability level of Single Step Consulting, LLC.
Confidentiality is an important aspect of the counseling relationship. We will carefully guard any information you entrust to us. All communication will be held in strict confidence unless you or a parent, in the case of a minor, give authorization to release this information. The exceptions to this would be:
- If a person expresses intent to harm himself/herself or someone else.
- If a sexual advance is made or the counselee asks the counselor to violate any element of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors Standards of Conduct.
- If there is evidence or reasonable suspicion of abuse against a minor child, elder person, or dependent adult.
- If a subpoena or other court order is received directing the disclosure of information.

- About the Scriptures: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
- About God: We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world. We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit as presented in both the Old and New Testaments and His present ministry by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. We believe the gifts of the Spirit spoken of in the New Testament are for the Church today.
- About Humanity: We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
- About Salvation: We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
- About the Christian Life: We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
- About the Church: We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.
